چکیده

A simple statistical model in terms of light-front kinematic variables is used to explain the nuclear EMC effect in the range x ∈ [0.2, 0.7], which was constructed by us previously to calculate the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the nucleon. Here, we treat the temperature T as a parameter of the atomic number A, and get reasonable results in agreement with the experimental data. Our results show that the larger A, the lower T thus the bigger volume V , and these features are consistent with other models. Moreover, we give the predictions of the quark distribution ratios, i.e., qA(x)/qD(x), q̄A(x)/q̄D(x), and sA(x)/sD(x), and also the gluon ratio gA(x)/gD(x) for iron as an example. The predictions are different from those by other models, thus experiments aiming at measuring the parton ratios of antiquarks, strange quarks, and gluons can provide a discrimination of different models.

Parton Distributions in Nuclei

We discuss two topics in this talk. One is a brief overview of nuclear parton distributions, and the other is SU(2)-flavor-symmetry breaking in nuclear antiquark distributions. First, we show that nuclear structure functions F 2 (x) could be explained in a Q rescaling model with parton recombination effects. Then, nuclear gluon distributions are discussed in this parton model. We point out othe...

( A New Letter - Of - Intent to Jefferson Lab PAC - 29 ) First Measurement of Polarized EMC Effect for the Neutron December 5 , 2005

We propose to measure the EMC effect in polarized structure function for the neutron at using a polarized He and a polarized Xe targets in Hall A. Results of this measurement would provide the first data on polarized EMC effect and important information for our understanding of the medium modification of nucleon spin structure. In this document, we first review the history and theories of the u...

Relativistic nature of the EMC-effect

The deep inelastic scattering of leptons off nuclei is studied within the the BetheSalpeter formalism. It is shown that nuclear short-range structure can be expressed in terms of the nucleon structure functions and four-dimensional Fermi motion of the nucleons. The four-dimensional Fermi motion broadens the bound nucleon localization area, what leads to the observation of the nucleon structure ...

بررسی و مطالعه توابع ساختار و توزیع زاویه‌ای پراکندگی لپتون‌ها از هسته‌های 40Ca و 56Fe

In this paper, we calculate nuclear structure function and EMC effect of 40Ca and 56Fe nuclei. To achive the goals, we consider Fermi motion and binding energy contrbiution in the harmonic oscillator model. In this model, harmonic oscillator parameter ħω related to shells root mean square radius and for free nucleon structure functions, is obtained from GRV’s free nucleon structure functions. ...

Hadrons in the Nuclear Medium- Role of Light Front Nuclear Theory

The problem of understanding the nuclear effects observed in lepton-nucleus deepinelastic-scattering (the EMC effect) is still with us. Standard nuclear models (those using only hadronic degrees of freedom) are not able to account for the EMC effect. Thus it is necessary to understand how the nuclear medium modifies quark wave functions in the nucleus. Possibilities for such modifications, repr...
